A big thank you to Julie Harvey for sharing these fantastic photos of her daughters 6th birthday with us. Julie did a wonderful job styling this party, she made all the food too. I love the attention to detail with the use of patterned paper to line plates, down to the sweet striped serving spoons for the ice cream toppings.

Max's 2nd Birthday - Icecream Theme

These deliciously cute Icecream Party Printables are new to my store!
I designed them for my son's birthday, they will soon be available in another colour option for the girls ;-)

So, my precious baby boy Max (he is still my baby) is now 2 !

I decided on an Icecream theme for Max's party after I was inspired by a gorgeous little wooden Icecream van moneybox that I bought for Max from Seed.

To add a splash of colour to the Icecream theme I decided to add red balloons to the mix, and the lovely Sarah of Enchanted Belles created the perfect cake topper to tie the themes in together.
I love the idea of a handmade cake topper that becomes a keepsake after the party.

So...we invited friends and family for afternoon tea (cake and icecream!) to celebrate.

I decided to do something different for this invitation, it's a little more work than my other printable invitations, but it's really quite easy, you just need to use a circle punch and some foam dots (which are also used for party spots /cupcake toppers),
then a corner punch finishes it off nicely.

I had grand plans of making hanging clouds in front of a sky blue wall for the backdrop,
but time didn't allow, oh well! The shutters worked ok ;-)

Oh, and I found out that buttercream doesn't stay white when you make it the day before, lol, it goes a creamy yellow colour. Any tips from the cake decorators out there ? is there a white icing alternative that would be nice on a neopolitan flavor cake without having to use fondant icing ?)

Icecream was served in white cups from Montresor with wooden spoons from Sweet Style.
I printed my Icecream party spots on adhesive paper and stuck them on the cups.

The cute chalkboard frame was from Frame This.
I designed a print to fit inside the frame (easier than attempting to be neat with chalk!)

As a thank you for coming, we gave each child an Icecream bowl and matching spoon to take home, inside was a vanilla cupcake with a giant coconut and white chocolate covered marshmallow on top.

I am giddy with excitement right now at the precious little package that just arrived at my doorstep!

I designed these baby elephant printables 2 years ago, for my son Max's naming day, it was the first printable invitation and party decor package for my business Style Me Gorgeous, and continues to be my most popular printables set by far!

After creating an exact replica of the little elephant (with permission) out of fondant to go on a birthday cake for her customer, Trinh of Cake Avenue made one for me out of the kindness of her heart.

I received him this morning along with a lovely note from Trinh, I had seen the photo, but seeing him in real life I was blown away, he is adorable, smells just a sweet as he looks lol, and now sits pride of place in my office as my good luck charm!

Thank you again Trinh, I am so touched, this is one of the kindest things anyone has ever done for me.

Last month we celebrated my dearest Mums 60th birthday.

So, for a change, I designed 'grown-up' invitations and printable party decor and created a delicious dessert table with some of my mums favourite sweets including pecan pies and nougat!

Mum loves green, and I wanted to create something pretty, yet simple and subtle, so I decided on this floral design with a rustic looking handwritten font. This neutral design works for any celebration...engagement parties, weddings, kitchen teas, tea partys, and birthdays!

The Owl & Bird printables are becoming increasingly popular, and why not I guess...they are just as cute as my best seller the Baby Elephant printables!

A couple of months ago I featured the gorgeous Christening of Zara, which was created around the pink and green Owl & Bird printables. I was delighted to see some lovely photos in my inbox today of Xavier's Baptism using the Blue & Green Owl & Bird printables, adorable, thank you for sharing the photos Amanda!

How gorgeous is the cake by Cake-a-lishious, made to match the printables, I love the pearlescent look icing. Amanda has done a beautiful job bringing it all together, it has a rich, luxurious feel with the satin ribbons, pearl icing and chocolate - caramel tones in the desserts and backdrop. Delicious!

Happy 2nd Birthday

I took this last one to show you the cookies close up, simply gorgeous!

Earlier this month Style Me Gorgeous turned 2! Hooray!!!

As a birthday gift to myself I decided to have a bio photo shoot done, and Renee Bell was the perfect photographer to do it (Renee photographed my precious little Max's 1st birthday last year, I love her style!), above are the results! I love getting all dolled up. I got a funny look from my 4 year old when I picked him up from daycare, hehe.

So, I described to Renee the colours I wanted to see in the images and she came up with perfect locations in Newcastle to create the look we were going for, the photos look perfect on my website.

A big thank you to Vanessa at Sugar Rush for the gorgeous cupcakes, and Denin at Spoon & Fork for the pretty cookies!

It has been a fabulous year, alongside the pleasure of designing many gorgeous new logos and websites, my print to party decor has been received really well and I finally have loaded some of the printables onto my website so you can purchase that way! I look forward to expanding the range to cater for the adults not just the kiddies :-)

I was thrilled this year too as one of my business dreams became a reality, Max's 1st Birthday party was featured in Little One Baby magazine, I adore this magazine, its glossy pages are full to the brim with gorgeous images and real stories, you can see the feature here

Since then my Baby Elephant and Owl and Bird print to party decor has been featured in Cosmo Pregancy, very exciting.

So here's to another fabulous year ahead, onwards and upwards!

A party spot was used on the cake...great way to tie the cake in perfectly with the rest of the table.

I love every detail of this GORGEOUS Holy Communion sweets table, the wall and mirror create a perfect backdrop for the table, I love the combination of old and new / rough and polished. The colours and textures are beautiful.

This event was styled by Little Big Company.

Louisa and Mel chose a design based on our 'Cool Christmas' print to party range for the Chocolate bar wrappers, the party spots (used on the favor boxes and cake), the buffet labels and I also created a custom lolly buffet sign for the table.

Loving this dessert table for Madi and Zali's birthday created by their mummy Kristin!

Kristin emailed me a while ago requesting bird themed printables, so I created this sweet Polkadot Birdie set using the original Style Me Gorgeous bird (from my original business branding which I recently changed) in the ever popular colour palette of pink and red.
The party spots look fantastic cut out with a scalloped craft punch, and the little bows added to the cupcake toppers add a great finishing touch

Happy Customers - Easter Gorgeousness

How was your Easter ? I hope you were able to enjoy some time out with the ones you love. I have just returned home refreshed after a few relaxing days away with my mum, husband and my 2 boys. We went the zoo and had such a great time, I will post a few pics for you soon.

I returned home to find lots of photos from my lovely customers showing me how they used the Easter printables! Thank you all so much.

Among them were these photos from Debra of the baby & childrens boutique Sweet Creations.
Debra used both the Style Me Gorgeous Easter Fun Printables, and Easter picnic printables. It all looks so fresh and gorgeous in the white display case. Debra even used our free Easter colour in to pop in a little basket along with crayons for the kids.

Shelby of Addie and Me, purchased our adorable Owl & Bird printables which set the theme and created a beautifully co-ordinated celebration for Natalie's daughter Xara's Christening.

The amazing cake and cookies were made by Judy of Judy Ayre Cakes to match the printables design perfectly. I love how Shelby thought outside of the square and used the party spots to make sweet little cards with Xara's photo inside. The fresh flowers, stripy ribbons and polkadots papers are all lovely touches too!

'Love is Peachy' Valentines Day Printables

I couldn't resist doing a mini photo shoot with my Love is Peachy Valentines Day printables ...the colours are so deliciously soft and sweet and they remind me of conversation heart sweets.

The Love is Peachy set is very versatile including 3 sheets of patterned paper for you to use however you like, I used it for decorating the little white gift box and wrapping the chocolate bars.

The multi purpose labels can be cut out as squares or you can use a craft punch to create 2 inch circles and use for toppers or tags, or you could print them on adhesive paper and use as stickers or envelope seals.

Print to Party Decor - Kombi Surf

We celebrated my son Jack's 4th Birthday in December (2010).

Jack has been obsessed with surfing and the beach, and had been talking about his upcoming surfing birthday the whole year! Unfortunately we couldn't have the party at the beach as planned due to rain....but the kids had a great time on the water slide we set up on the grass.

This moment (above) was so funny...once the waterslide was set up Jack was the first to have a turn, there may have been a little too much dishwashing detergent on the slide as it was very slippery and Jack went flying and landed way off the slide in the grass...his face was quite serious when he stopped, everyone was laughing and for a second I though he was going to burst into tears..then he started laughing too, phew!

For take home favors the kids got one of these little dark blue tin pails with a fish lollypop, surfboard and board shorts memo pad a eraser, shark squirt and bubbles inside. Unfortunately I didn't get photos of it.

I showed the lovely Amy from Giggleberry Creations the inspiration board for the party and she made the bunting to match the bunting on the invitation. I made a mini cake bunting from scraps of the same fabric. I love the colours of this bunting and am now going to hang it in Jacks bedroom to match his boodalee bedlinen.

The beautiful tablecloth was from Sharnel Dollar Designs

The cutest board shorts cookies were made for me by the one and only Hello Naomi.
I packaged them up in my printable cookie bag toppers as take home favors.

These are the lunch boxes I made for the kids with the Hamper boxes from imprintables. Unfortunately we didnt get to use them...I thought they would be great to pack the kids lunches in for the beach...but we didnt make it to the beach and had mini hotdogs, chips and DIY burgers for lunch instead.

Hello Naomi made me a cute little decoration set consisting of surfboards and the number 4 so I could decorate the mudcake I made for Jack, she also made the little cupcakes...too cute!

The table runner was one I found in my cupboard at the last minute,
and the backdrop was from good ole bunnings.

The inspiration for Max's First birthday theme was the canvas artwork (above) that I designed which hangs in Max's bedroom. I had plans to include a wooden plane hanging behind the dessert table with the kite banner...but ran out of time, a nice thought though :-)

I decided on a soft, clean colour palette of pale blues and browns, perfect for a sweet and handsome little boy! (for a boys party I guess you can only really get away with such 'sweetness' for a first birthday so I had to advantage of that). I added natural twine, brown paper and wood elements to give a simple, clean and casual feel.

I found the cute little trike on the cake on etsy and spray painted it baby blue.

The beautiful bell domes that I used to display the cookies were from www.frenchhomewares.com.au

Mini cookie jars from www.detailsdetails.com.au

Buffet label holders from www.montresor.com.au

Cupcake holder from www.sweetlittlebirdy.com.au

Wooden cones (for the popcorn), thick brown and cream twine on kite banner from www.donnahay.com.au

The kite banner was made from felt, it was the quickest thing to make out of everything, I printed out the letters on A4 paper, cut them out and traced them onto felt that was sticky on one side, thread through some twine, tied on the ribbon and there you have it.

I think a fun party activity to go with this theme would be to have the kids decorate their own little kites then attempt to fly them, I bought some kites for the kids to fly but the weekend of the party we had terrible winds that would have blew the kids away with the kite !

Ok now Im off to do some planning for my eldest son's 4th birthday party, another theme inspired by one of my canvas artworks... sneak peaks soon ;-)

My Sweet Little Boy's First Birthday

My baby boy, Max, turned one last month. Ohhh I think Im still in denial that he is one, when my eldest Jack turned one I was fine, but with Max I shed a tear or two..it just goes too fast.

I had so so many ideas for Max's party, and you know how it goes..things rarely go to plan. We moved house the same week so I didnt have time to do a few things, and we had horrible winds on the party day which meant I couldnt have the table outdoors as planned so had to change the backdrop at the last minute, oh well! get over it Sarah ;-)

Anyway it was a beautiful day with friends and family, Max got lovely gifts (that his big brother had a great time opening) and enjoyed his mummy's mudcake very much!

I want to say a special thank you to Renee of NFE Design for photographing the day for us, I didnt have time to take a single photo so thank god for Renee! and how gorgeous is her photography.

Smash Cakes

Smash cake: a celebratory cake intended to be destroyed, especially by a child

I love the idea of a smash cake for a 1 year old's birthday ! I had honestly never heard of a smash cake until a few months ago (you may be thinking 'hellloooooo' where have you been ?), so Jack missed out on that, sorry Jack ! ...we did get some great pics of him devouring his piece of cake though..like mother like son !

My youngest little man Max turns 1 in October and I will definately be doing a smash cake for him, it will be funny to see if he actually smashes it, or just pokes it.

This is the invitation I designed for my godson's 4th birthday party. I love black, but Ive got a thing about kids pirate parties and black...I just prefer more 'friendly' pirate colours :-)

I think I will have to throw a pirate themed party for my son in the next few years...well I can't not really...with a name like Jack (Captain Jack!). So maybe next year for the pirate party - I already have his 4th birthday this year planned...hehe...Im choosing the themes while I can (is that cheeky of me lol ?!) as Im sure I will be told what theme for the big '5' next year.

So if I were planning a Pirate Party I would be inspired by this one (photo above) from Scissors. Paper. Cake.

I just luurrrrve simple, modern designs with lots of white space...so when I saw this very cool 7 year olds Lizard party by Shim + Sons in a fresh, crisp colour palette of black + white with green, I got very excited !

As a mother of 2 boys I love to see clever and creative ideas for boys parties. The fabric bunting, terrarium centerpieces, pebble containers holding little signs and the photo booth are a few of the details I love from this party.

Not only a popular theme for kids parties....but a fun idea for a wedding !

Ive been married almost 5 years now and frequently think 'ooh I want to get married again so I can do that !'. There are so many creative people with amazing ideas for weddings it really makes my head spin sometimes, probably a good idea I'm already married, because if I had to plan my wedding now it would take me about 5 years to plan... trying to sift through and narrow down all the ideas and inspiration that Ive stored in my memory since I joined blog land ;-)

A Mother and Daughter High Tea

Ok this is just GORGEOUS, and what a fantastic idea.. a mums 30th tied in with her daughters 2nd birthday by combining the theme of a teddy bears picnic and a high tea. It can get expensive when your family members all have birthdays at the same time of the year like mine, so I am very impressed with this idea.

A pink, red and white colour palette never fails to wow me, so pretty.

Vintage Circus

Circus / Carnival themed parties have always been very popular, I did a circus train theme for my son's 2nd birthday a couple of years ago (top pic). There have been plenty of gorgeous circus / carnival theme parties popping up lately..and Im loving how the theme keeps on being re-invented with everyone doing it in different styles or different colours.

I fell in love with the circus party ideas of Sweet Paul via Hip Hooray (thanks for introducing me girls!). The seal cookies are too cute..I love that they double as decorations. I also adore the spotty bunting cake, its simple yet so effective, and one that anyone could have a crack at..it doesnt have to be perfect...thumbs up for the textured icing look!

There is certainly no shortage of circus themed decorations, lollies, partyware etc out there...its just a matter of narrowing it all down! I came across this cute pop up clown card from Poketo today, this would be a fun invitation idea.

So naturally now I am very keen to try my hand at the circus party again for one of my boys birthdays..but this time vintage, I will have to come up with a way to give it a unique twist (fun, fun, fun).

I cant get enough of vintage right now, Im going to do a vintage 'boys toys' theme for Max's 1st birthday, I will show you some of my inspiration for that later ;-)

Thankful

Mothers day was perfect... it started with Jack and I making a chocolate cake (while daddy mopped the floors and little Max napped), and ended with my family sitting around the fire at mums farm, toasting marshmallows.

I always go in and check my kids, give them a kiss and make sure they are tucked in before I go to bed, and on sunday I did the same, but stayed for a while just watching....overwhelmed with love, so precious, I hope I never ever forget the details of them as babies, their smell, the sweet baby breath, little snores like a cat purring, perfect little squishy faces, gorgeous kissable lips..too cute.

I hope my boys and I grow to be as close as I am to my mum, and remember boys...you are NEVER too old for cuddles for mum!

Gorgeous Fabric Designs

A while ago now I had the pleasure of designing some very cute prints for a new range of Bambooty Nappies, I was SO excited this week to discover the designs have come to life...there's; tutu cute, hooty booty and zoom zoom (I love the names they came up with for the prints), Ive ordered some for Max and can't wait to see them in real life !

Bambooty Nappies are fashionable, affordable, eco-friendly all in one nappies. Easy to use - no folding, no pins, no covers. Easy to wash - no soaking, no bleach, no water hazards. Simply wash, dry and wear.

I actually havent used cloth nappies before, but it seems poor Max has some eczema so Im thinking the Bambooty Easy Dry nappies will be good for his skin.... apparently bamboo/organic cotton fleece next to the skin is good for eczema.

Oh my gosh, just look at this - so cute !!

I had designed a free rainbow colour-in page last month as Ive been loving all the rainbow eye candy that has been flying around blog-land lately. I was thrilled this afternoon to get an email from Hip Hooray informing me that they had used the colour-in at Mia's rainbow party !

Just look at that cake...WOW. Im loving the upside down umbrella's hanging from the ceiling, and the gumboots holding the streamers, the use of gorgeous ribbon everywhere...oohhhh...head on over to Hip Hooray to check out some more pics.

A Gorgeous Naming Day

A couple of weeks ago on a beautiful sunny sunday, we celebrated my baby boy's naming, at home with a celebrant, family and friends. I was in my element designing and creating every little detail for the special day and am very excited to finally share it with you.

I had decided on a baby elephant theme for the naming day before Max was born as this was the theme for his nursery. By adding teeny tiny polkadots and my cute Style Me Gorgeous birdies it was perfect 'cute' theme for my gorgeous baby boy. The soft colour palette was inspired by some gorgeous Martha Stewart paper lanterns that I found at Spotlight.

I designed the cake toppers, cookie toppers, labels, tags, signs and banners to match the invites. In my next blog post I will share the details of the decorations.

Sometimes I am truely blown away by the fabulous and innovative ideas some people come up with. During my monday morning blog read I came across 'enjoy cupcakes' via Style Me Pretty (awesome business name by the way..hehe..I discovered this blog a couple of months after I registered my business name, a real eye candy blog!).

Its a mobile cupcakery!, the most devine cupcakes come to your party in a gorgeous little caravan (or RV as they say in the US), 'Guest will ENJOY treats served out of an adorable restored vintage Shasta trailer...twinkling lights, a festive canopy & a wafting sweet smell will make your event unique & unforgettable'.

Hi Guys,

Sorry but a bit of a sad post today.

Some of my design work has been stolen, and ended up being sold on etsy as a pre-made' logo. After contacting the shop owner it has been taken down, fingers have been pointed and I don't know how it has started, who started it, and who to trust...

I know this happens to so many people, every day, today it has happened to me, it is so upsetting when you put so much heart into your work as I do.

I just want to say, to any copycats out there, that it is a small world and you WILL be caught out and shamed eventually, Karma IS real.

I want to thank all my true followers that support me, it is with your support and encouragement that I will keep on designing with my head held high.

i was inspired for this months colour in by rainbows, they have been popping up on blogs (and in the sky) everywhere. First i fell in love with the cake you see above when it showed up on babyology, then Sharnel's post on My Life, My Loves got me even more excited....a rainbow theme is now on my ideas list for Max's 1st birthday in october, i think it could be pulled off for a baby boys birthday dont you ? i have to do the themes i want to do for the boys parties before they get too old and start making demands :-)
there are so many things u could do to style a rainbow party, and the kids could paint rainbows as an activity, this rainbow cake business could be quite fiddly though!

Max's naming day - more inspiration

A while ago I showed you all my inspiration for my son's naming day coming up in march, see here, not long to go now until the big day for Max, Ive been collecting lots of bits and pieces and will be busy this weekend making all the paper decorations.

I thought Id show you a few more things Ive found/bought this week that are in theme;

1. I bought this cute little onesie from minienvy for something comfortable for Max to wear after the naming ceremony

2. I ordered some little elephant cut-outs from etsy, the same as the ones above (sorry cant remember which blog I found this image), Im just hoping they will arrive from the US on time for the party, after doing a google search today I discovered that they are made using a martha stewart craft punch!

3. I ADORE these vintage paper straws, Im sad that I cant find an Australian store to buy them from, I wont have time to get them from the US now :-(, and Ive only seen them in red and blue, oh the red ones would be SO cool for a circus theme party!

Funky Monsters !

Checkout this funky little fella ;-) I know I always tell you how much fun I have designing some logo's..I really do...and this one was no exception. Drawing little monsters took me back a bit - when I was a little girl I used to love to draw quirky little characters, I had a notebook full of them. My best friend and I actually created our own little world of characters called 'pea-pods', they were all the same body, then we would create different facial expressions, hair styles, and outfits for them, so much fun. I kept a lot of the drawing I did as a little girl, perhaps i will share some with you one day for a laugh.

Anyway, back on track...Funky Monsters was born when Nicole, mother of two little monsters, decided to make a pair of 'lounge pants' (cotton pants that are comfortable like tracksuit pants, but dressier and not so plain) for her son after she was unable to find some to buy. After so much great feedback Nicole also began to make baby booties, and her collection has now expanded to include Shorts, Bloomers, Onesies and Pillowcase style Dresses. Mini Me ?

I was going through my photo's tonight and found a pic of my husband when he was 3, I hadnt seen it for ages and am amazed at how similar our 3 year old is to his daddy, I thought Id put them side by side along with one of me (don't tell hubby there is a baby pic of him on the world wide web!). Since Jack was born everyone always comments on how much he looks like his daddy, but as he has grown a lot more people say he looks like me.

Whilst I was going through the pics I was blown away at how similar my two boys Jack and Max are, I hadn't looked at Jacks baby pics for a while, and tonight, for the first time, I got the boys muddled up - I thought I was looking at pics of Max (our 4 month old) for a moment, then I realised they were Jack ! going through them all I could pick out even more similarities in the expressions on their faces, the way they hold their hands etc.

Max is becoming a real little character too just like his brother, with their cheeky grins, smiling eyes and ADORABLE dimples. It will be interesting to see how similar they look as Max grows older.
